Straight leg raise test, Well straight leg raise test, Milgram test, and sciatic and femoral nerve tension testing

Palpate for muscle guarding and/or spasm
KEY FINDINGS DIAGNOSTIC EVIDENCE
Pain is often worse in the morning
Patient may have weakness in the lower limbs; forward bending and sitting are the worst
The patient will ambulate slowly with slightly flexed side bend away from the side of pain; reflexes may be diminished
